Bazelon Center’s Annual Olmstead Event
June 22 12-1:30pm
In the legal advocacy space, advocates often refer to solutions that promote integration in community-based settings as, “Olmstead solutions”. However, we acknowledge that framing can be a systematic erasure of the life and legacy of Lois Curtis, the L.C. in Olmstead v. L.C.. Lois Curtis was a Black woman with mental health and other disabilities. She was the plaintiff that won the case that achieved integration for all in the disability community. After her passing, how do we better honor her legacy moving forward?
