Cognitive Disability and Community Inclusion: How to build community

May 3, 2023|10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Cognitive disability and mental health challenges increase the risk of social isolation. A community inclusion mapping plan is a priority to identify local social supports and supportive spaces to encourage social engagement. Do you know how to build one? This training session will help support staff identify the objectives and steps to building a community inclusion mapping plan for people with Borderline Intellectual Functioning to Mild Intellectual Disability and Mental Health Challenges. The three-step process of familiar spaces, social spaces and belonging spaces will be discussed and a vignette used to practice implementing it.
