Diagnosing with the DSM-5

January 27 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Diagnosing with the DSM-5

Accurately diagnosing mental health disorders can be challenging. While each disorder has a defined criterion set, there is significant symptom overlap between disorders. The process of accurately diagnosing necessitates familiarity with the various DSM-5 diagnostic categories as well as an understanding of the appropriate differential diagnoses to rule-out in order to arrive at the appropriate disorder. This session will introduce a multi-step process for diagnosing that centers around ruling out disorders with similar or overlapping symptom presentations. Utilizing case examples, participants will gain experience implementing the multi-step diagnostic assessment process.
