The Office of Advocacy and Peer Support Services is hiring a Peer Coordinator located in Albany. This Advocacy Specialist II SG-18 role supports the successful professional development and growth of OMH’s State Operated Peer Specialists and peer services. The Peer Coordinator is a systems advocate that ensures all OMH peer support services are trauma-informed, equitable, and in line with best practices established by the Peer Specialist certification entities. Oversee all areas of operation of a residential program serving 9 male individuals with mental health diagnoses and whom are homeless upon entry to the program. Responsible for all program wide documentation including progress notes, service plans, correspondence with community providers and agencies. (Strong computer, written and oral skills a must.)
Offer guidance and support to the 9 individuals housed there. Job located in Albany, NY.

Incumbent will operate a warm line from 3pm-11pm Monday-Thursday. The purpose of this phone line is to give support to callers including, but not limited to, social support, emotional encouragement, referrals to community resources and confidential conversation. This is not a crisis line. Crisis calls are to be referred out to appropriate agencies.

The Adult Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) uses lived experience of mental health recovery to provide non-clinical, recovery-oriented support to adult clients at HSVS’s OMH-licensed MHOTRS clinic. The Peer Specialist offers one-to-one support, co-facilitates groups, assists with navigation and self-advocacy, and partners with the multidisciplinary team to strengthen engagement, hope, and self-management. This role is supervised by licensed clinical staff and complements, but does not duplicate, clinical services

This role delivers psychotherapy and conducts intakes for new patients, integrates peer services with clinical care, and ensures quality, compliance, and person-centered outcomes. The Supervisor reports to the Senior Behavioral Health Officer.
