Peer Specialists play an integral role in the recovery process, and the services they provide have shown to promote positive health and recovery outcomes. The Peer Specialist is part of a multidisciplinary team working collaboratively with therapists, psychiatrists/PNPs, and nurses to assist with person-centered goal planning, collaborate with participants, and support systems to identify immediate needs and service requirements and recommend treatment objectives.

The Peer Counselor / CRPA provides non-clinical peer-support services.
Unless separately licensed or credentialed and specifically authorized by AllHealth, you may not independently:
Diagnose substance use, psychiatric, or medical conditions;
Conduct clinical assessments;
Provide psychotherapy;
Make medical or psychiatric treatment decisions;
Prescribe or recommend medications;
Independently establish or modify a clinical treatment plan; or
Perform services requiring a professional license or credential you do not possess.

The Senior Peer Specialist will use their unique perspective to provide peer support to participants within the framework of the core principles of recovery and self-determination. They will facilitate participants’ utilization of community treatment services and will provide support for participants in pursuing housing, benefits, employment, and vocational services. The Senior Peer Specialist works individually with participants and may also facilitate groups using standard curriculum.

Serve as a role model for recipients and educate recipients about self-help techniques and self-help group process; teach them effective coping strategies, sometimes based on personal experience. Preferred qualifications: lived mental health experience from first-hand, personal knowledge, understanding gained from navigating and receiving services and/or supports as an element of their recovery; experience as a peer advocate in the mental health system.

Visit individuals in their homes and provide compassionate one-on-one support to help them achieve their recovery goals. Assist with building daily living skills, increasing independence, connecting to community resources, attending appointments, developing healthy routines, improving social connections, and providing encouragement and emotional support. Help individuals overcome challenges, work toward personal goals, and live more independently in their communities.

Work as a certified peer within the ACDP Certified Behavioral Health Community Clinic. Peer will work with clients towards life goals and lend additional support. Using trauma-informed, non-clinical assistance to provide resiliency training, group facilitation, non-clinical crisis support, and community connection to clients. The peer will have a critical role in client outreach and maintaining continuity of service for cleints enrolled at the site.

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House is looking to recruit a part-time Peer Advocate who will be an integral member of our multidisciplinary team and be responsible for engaging, building rapport and supporting our clients to meet their mental health, recovery, health and wellness and housing goals. Using personal lived experience as an access and understanding point of the needs of our clients, the Peer Advocate will deliver and facilitate person-centered, trauma-informed and culturally responsive support services to assist our clients in obtaining permanent housing.
